The Family Agency, is actually the result of organic growth combined with a few mergers and
some acquisitions sprinkled in for good measure. Our heritage includes the Drawdy Agency as
well as Lighthouse Agency.
In 2004, Mike McPherson of the Lighthouse Agency acquired the long time Albany agency
Drawdy from Linda Drawdy. In 2006 those agencies merged into DWB. In 2010, The
Muggridge Family purchased all the shares of the newly merged DWB and assumed the
management of the day to day operations of DWB Insurance Agency.
Rick Muggridge, the principal and manager of The Family Agency, has spent the last 22 years
in the insurance business right here on Dawson Road. From 1991 until 2010, he built the Alfa
Insurance reputation in Albany. During that time he refined his current philosophy of business.
"Sell and recommend only those products you would buy for yourself, or a loved one, in a similar
situation." In other words, treat every customer just like "Family." This philosophy has become
the goal of the entire agency. Treating everyone like "Family" is our mission and our passion.
It’s a new day here at DWB with a new mission and a new attitude! That is why we had to
have a new name to match our new spirit. The Family Agency was born! We exist to help
you find the insurance products you need at a price you can afford. At The Family Agency, you
are family, too!
